Star Trek Museums and Attractions
Museums and similar attractions across the USA and around the world feature Star Trek memorabilia. At one time, there was even a “theme park” type attraction in Las Vegas that gave visitors a real-life simulation of Star Trek. Over the years there have been many traveling exhibitions which have toured around the world. As of this writing, most of these seem to be mothballed; but with the 60th anniversary of Star Trek in 2026 we can hope there will be more. I include both some significant past exhibits as well as current exhibits bekiw. Wherever possible, I have provided links to YouTube videos or photos which illustrate the exhibits.
Museums and Attractions that have Star Trek exhibits include:
- The Science Museum in London, United Kingdom, will be celebrating the 60th anniversary of Star Trek from 26 March 2026 — 8 September 2026.
- The Museum will be hosting a month’s long special season of Star Trek events, film screenings, and a trail of iconic objects from the TV series and films. All 13 Star Trek films will be presented at the Science Museum’s IMAX: The Ronson Theatre, one of the biggest screens in Europe. The trail of iconic objects scattered throughout the museum will include screen-used props, and explore the connections between science fiction and real-world innovations.
- Of course the museum will offer unique Trek collectibles celebrating the 60th anniversary. These will include a limited-edition anniversary coin and apparel, which will be available in a Star Trek takeover of the mezzanine level of the museum’s shop. There will also be an exclusive silver embroidered cap and sew-on patch, and exclusive, specially produced Ships of the Line T-shirts, tote bag and posters. The Science Museum will also continue its exhibits about real-world space exploration and astronomy. Dr Glyn Morgan, head of collections and principal curator at the Science Museum, said: “Star Trek has invited audiences to be curious explorers for decades – a mission we know something about at the Science Museum. Star Trek as a cultural phenomenon has played a real role in changing the world of STEM, from inspiring technical innovations to encouraging a generation of modern astronauts. I hope that this Star Trek at 60 programme at the Science Museum inspires visitors to consider what might be possible if you boldly go where no one has gone before.”
- The Star Trek Starship Enterprise was featured in several of Pasadena’s internationally broadcast New Year’s Rose Parades over the years, and it was once again featured for the 60th anniversary in 2026:
- Star Trek was included in the January 1st 1992 Rose Parade, featuring the USS Enterprise D (from Star Trek: The Next Generation) and 25th anniversary of Star Trek as part of Nestle’s “Voyages of Discovery” float.
- Star Trek was also in the 2012 Rose parade for the 100th anniversary of Paramount.
- Star Trek was once again included in the 2026 Rose Parade celebrating the 60th anniversary of Star Trek. The float featured iconic Star Trek landmarks including the locally-recognized Vasquez Rocks, the U.S.S. Enterprise rising above an array of planets, interactive transporters and the Starfleet Academy campus.
Trek actors George Takei, Rebecca Romijn, Tig Notaro and Karim Diané appeared on the float’s replica U.S.S. Enterprise bridge as it traveled the 5.5-mile parade route through Pasadena.
The lineup of actors bridges multiple Star Trek generations: Takei, 87, portrayed helmsman Hikaru Sulu in the original 1966 series and six films. Romijn plays Commander Una Chin-Riley in the current “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.” Notaro’s Commander Jett Reno appeared in “Star Trek: Discovery,” and Diané stars as Klingon cadet Jayden Kraag in the upcoming “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.”
- Several other Star Trek stars have previously been featured in the Rose Parade over the years. William Shatner (Captain Kirk in the original series) was the Grand Marshall of the Rose Parade in 1994. LeVar Burton (Geordi LaForge on Star Trek The Next Generation) was the 2022 Grand Marshal of the 133rd Rose Parade. George Takei (Lieutenant Sulu on the original series) was featured in the parade aboard a 1992 float, ‘Star Voyager,’ a fanciful rocket ship sponsored by the City of Alhambra. More than 20 actors from various past and future Star Trek series are expected to take part in related festivities associated with the upcoming January 1, 2026 Rose Parade.

- This town of just under 2,000 people has worked hard to take advantage of its name by creating a fun and unique Star Trek-related identity. Capitalizing on the name coincidence, the Town of Vulcan had a replica built of the Starship Enterprise in 1995. Soon after, the town built a one-of-a-kind visitor information center built to look like a landed space station which is home to a large collection of Star Trek Memorabilia, Gift Shop, and tourist information. There are tributes to Star Trek all over town from murals, to street lights to business names. In June, the town hosts Spock Days, and in July, for over 30 years, the town of Vulcan hosts an annual Star Trek convention called Vul-Con.
- Star Trek: The Experience was a popular attraction that opened in January 1998 at the Las Vegas Hilton, and closed in 2008. Attempts to revive the experience failed, and the attraction is no more.
When it was operating, it included a History of the Future museum with props, costumes and memorabilia from throughout Star Trek history. It also featured a memorable timeline of events in the fictional Star Trek universe. In later updates, displays for each of the franchise’s major alien races, which included the Borg, Klingons, and Ferengi were added.
The last section of the museum was a hallway, serving as the attraction’s queues. The left side was for a Borg Invasion 4-D show, and the right side was for the Klingon Encounter show. Watch the video to get an idea of how this attraction worked.
